BATTLE CREEK – The Coldwater Cardinal swim and dive team finished out their 2024 regular season this past weekend, traveling to Battle Creek Central for the Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference (SMAC) championship meet.
Coldwater came away from the weekend with one all-conference honor as Sienna Losinski led the team to an eighth place finish out of 10 teams at the conference meet.
Losinski capped off a tremendous season in the pool for the Cardinals with her second team all-conference honor, as Losinski took eighth place in the 50-yard freestyle, earning a spot on the podium. Losinski also finished in 13th place in the 100 butterfly.
Also competing well for the Cardinals at the SMAC championship was Ayla McCowan, 13th in the 200 individual medley and 23rd in the 100 breaststroke; Macy Poradzisz, 12th place in the 1-meter dive; Ambriah Lewis, 11th place in the 100 freestyle and 16th place in the 100 backstroke; and Sonya Shchedryhina, 11th place in the 100 breaststroke.
The Coldwater relay teams also saw some success in a very packed and talented field of swimmers as each “A” relay team finished in the top 10 of their respective swims.
Leading the way for the Coldwater relay teams was the 200 IM relay team of Lewis, Shchedryhina, McCowan, and Losinski, ninth place; the 200-freestyle relay team of Shchendryhina, Sidney Aseltine, McCowan, and Losinski took ninth place; and the 400-freestyle team of Lewis, Aseltine, Carly Krzyzanski, and Shchedryhina finished in 10th place.

The “B” teams also performed well at the conference meet, as the 200 IM relay team of Ava Motes, Korrin Brown, Danika Harris and Krzyzanski finished in 15th place while the 200 freestyle relay team of Motes, Brown, Harris and Krzyzanski, finished in 15th place.
One Cardinal remains alive in the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Swim and Dive postseason as Macy Poradzisz will compete in the dive regionals on Thursday at Hamilton High School.
