Tractor relay comes to North Platte
by: Kat Tedder, The North Platte Bulletin - Jun. 5, 2023
An antique tractor relay across Nebraska reached North Platte Monday afternoon, with 23 tractors methodically moving up Buffalo Bill Ave.
The Tractor Relay Across Nebraska for 2023 provides owners an opportunity to see Nebraska from the seat of their favorite antique tractor. It provides the public with an opportunity to see farm tractors from the days of small and modest-size family farms.
The tractor relay is a five-day event that began on Saturday. The first couple trips were out of Gothenburg and back. The drivers will stay in North Platte Monday night and head to Wallace, aiming to make their way to Wauneta by June 7.
2023 route:
Twenty-three tractors of different makes and models cruised up Buffalo Bill Ave. around 5 p.m. on Monday.
Several vehicles stopped on the side of the road to watch the procession and wave at the drivers.
TRAN is raising money for two American Legion programs — Operation Comfort Warriors and Gifts for Yanks. For more info, see their website, antiquefarming.org.
