Glenwood junior Delaney Batton finished second with a score of 342.05 and did not receive an at-large bid in 1-meter diving. Edwardsville’s McLaren Seaton won the event with 373.20. Springfield has not had an individual swimmer reach state since 2016 when graduate Caitlin Tierney made it in the 100 and 200 freestyles as a senior, and Haley Rivera advanced in the 200 IM as a junior.

Olivia Viele was the last SHG swimmer to reach state when she advanced in the 100 butterfly as a sophomore in 2018.

Overall, 21 times that were turned in beat the state qualifying standards and three pool records were set.

Edwardsville, which won the 200 medley and 200 and 400 freestyle relays, shattered the state times and established a pool record in the medley and 200 free. Junior Alyssa Albertyn of O’Fallon set a pool record in the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.94. The previous record was 50.96.
