This November, the Florida Tech community is coming together to work towards one goal: To end cancer as we know it.
On Saturday, Nov. 2, Florida Tech will be hosting Relay for Life from 1-5 p.m. at the Crawford Greens.
“There will be activities, raffle basket items for sale and a whole lot of fun,” SGA Senator Bryson Noble said in an email.
Relay for Life is a partnership with the American Cancer Society to raise money for cancer research and support for survivors and those fighting cancer. This year, the theme for the event is “Weeding out Cancer,” and each of the participating organizations will have a plant to represent their group.
Student organizations on campus will have the opportunity to host their own booths at the event, where they can hold activities to help fundraise for the American Cancer Society. For organizations who still want to participate in Relay for Life, registration is open until Nov. 1.
“All are welcome. Come join us on Nov. 2 for this fantastic cause,” Noble said.
Raising money is not the only goal for Relay for Life at Florida Tech. This event is also a way to reach out to those who have been affected by cancer in their lives.
According to the American Cancer Society website, although every Relay For Life event embraces the uniqueness of the home community, every event includes the same four signature elements: a celebration of cancer survivors, a celebration of caregivers, a luminaria ceremony to honor and remember loved ones, and the opportunity to fight back against cancer.
Relay for Life will offer an opportunity to join together with other members of the Florida Tech community to have a direct impact on those affected by cancer. For more information on the event, visit the Relay for Life event page.
